Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from Luna Shutters & Blind. Still unsure? Call (602) 254-1770.

How do I get started?+

Call (602) 254-1770, Mon–Fri 7am–6pm. We book an in-home consultation, measure your windows, show samples in your light, and leave a written quote.

Where are you located and where do you work?+

2417 W Lincoln St, Phoenix, AZ 85009. We serve the whole Valley: Phoenix Metro, Scottsdale, East, West, North and South Valley.

Shutters or blinds — which should I choose?+

Shutters are furniture for your windows — insulated, durable, and priced accordingly. Blinds and shades cover the same glass for less. At the consultation we price your rooms both ways where it makes sense, so the choice is yours with real numbers.

Can you repair my existing shutters?+

Yes — louver repair and replacement, color-matched to your existing shutters, is part of what we do (our reviewers mention it specifically). Call with photos of the damage.

How long does custom work take?+

From consultation to installation is usually a matter of weeks for custom work — your written quote includes the current schedule, stated honestly rather than promised optimistically.

Do you offer motorized options?+

Yes — motorized shades are one of our eight services, including retrofits on many existing setups. Ask at the consultation.

Why choose real wood over composite? (Wood Shutters)+

Real wood is lighter and stronger across wide spans, takes stain beautifully, and carries the furniture feel painted composites imitate. In dry Phoenix air, quality wood shutters are a decades-long product.

What wood do you use? (Wood Shutters)+

Basswood is the classic shutter wood for good reason: light, stable, fine-grained and beautiful under stain or paint. Your samples at the consultation show the actual options for your windows.

Can plantation shutters fit arches and bay windows? (Plantation Shutters)+

Yes, where the design suits — arches, angles, bays and specialty shapes are measured and built custom. Bring the awkward window; it is usually the one that benefits most.

What louver size should I choose? (Plantation Shutters)+

Wider louvers (3.5–4.5in) give the open, modern view and fewer lines; narrower (2.5in) suits traditional rooms and smaller windows. Samples at the consultation make the choice obvious in your own room.

How do shutters work around door handles? (French Door Shutters)+

The panel is built with a cut-out around your handle and lock so the door operates normally. At measuring we document your exact hardware — levers need different clearance than knobs.

Can you match my French doors to my window shutters? (French Door Shutters)+

Yes — French door shutters are Luna's named specialty service. Adjacent sidelights and matching windows are measured in the same visit so the whole elevation matches.

Faux wood or real wood blinds? (Blinds)+

Faux wood shrugs off steam and splashes at a friendlier price; real wood is lighter and richer in living spaces. Most homes mix: faux in wet rooms, wood where it shows. We price both at the consultation.

How long do your blinds last? (Blinds)+

Reviewer words: blinds we installed years ago 'have stayed in great shape now for years.' Quality slats, honest hardware and correct measuring are the whole secret — plus cord care, which we show you at installation.

Solar shades or blackout shades — which do I need? (Shades)+

Solar shades filter glare and UV while keeping the view — you see out, heat stays out. Blackout shades kill light for sleep and media rooms. Many homes run solar in living areas, blackout in bedrooms; samples make it obvious.

Do solar shades keep my view? (Shades)+

That is solar shades' party trick: the view stays, the glare and a large share of solar heat go. Openness factor (how tight the weave is) tunes the balance — we show 1%, 3%, 5% samples against your glass.

Battery or hardwired motors? (Motorized Shades)+

Battery motors suit most retrofits (no wiring, rechargeable); hardwired suits new construction and big banks of shades. The consultation matches the motor to each window's size, weight and power access.

Can I control shades from my phone? (Motorized Shades)+

Controls range from a simple remote through phone apps to voice and smart-home scenes. We spec what you will actually use — for most homes, remote + app covers it elegantly.

Do you really install crown molding, or just shutters? (Crown Molding Installation)+

Crown molding is Luna's named installation service — the finishing trade that completes a shuttered room. Whole rooms or whole homes, measured per wall and quoted by the job.

What profile should I choose? (Crown Molding Installation)+

Paint-grade profiles are the standard recommendation: crisp lines, any color, honest pricing. Profiles are sampled against your ceiling height at the consultation — scale is the whole game.

How much heat do solar screens actually block? (Sun Window Screens (Solar Window Screens))+

A meaningful share — quality solar mesh blocks the majority of solar heat before it reaches the glass (exact performance depends on the mesh chosen; we show the ratings with samples). West and south glass is where the payback lives.

Screens outside or solar shades inside? (Sun Window Screens (Solar Window Screens))+

Solar screens mount outside the window; solar shades hang inside. Screens protect the glass itself and preserve outward view in daylight; shades add interior design and privacy control. Many homes run both on the worst elevations — we will spec honestly per window.
